Standing tall and green--Our energetic and very focused first graders brought their year to a satisfying close this morning with the harvesting of their sugar snap peas for the food bank at the Martin Luther King Center in Newport. This was the end of a terrific journey for Roselyn Morris' and Karen Andrade's students, who throughout the course of the past nine months mastered not only the basics of classroom skills but also (with gentle guidance and clear examples) grasped the fact that there is a great big world out there, that they are part of it, and that all they need to do is speak up--and partner up--to make a positive difference in people's lives.
