Summer 2010 Letter from the President of the PA

Dear St. Michael's Families and Friends,

It is with much excitement that I welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year! As a member of the St. Michaels Parent’s Association (SMSPA), I would like to extend my warmest greeting to all of our new families as well as our returning families.

The SMSPA is a dedicated group of parent volunteers who work together, along with school administrators, faculty and staff for the betterment of our school community.

The mission of our PA is to build an inclusive community at St. Michaels through:

  • Outreach to families, teachers and staff
  • Promote a culture of volunteerism
  • Foster a community wide communication
  • Supporting Parent Education

Throughout the year, the PA sponsors a variety of event, fundraisers and activities that benefit not only our SMS children but the local children of our community, as well. A vital role of the PA besides community building and community service is to raise funds to maintain our Afterschool Enrichment Program, support class field trips, assemblies, guest speakers, school events, including our annual Fall Frenzy and Teacher Wish Lists for classroom supplies, furniture or equipment.

The PA can only achieve its mission with your help and support. I hope you will assist us by volunteering some of your time to be involved in the different committees and to attend the wonderful events planned for our school this year. We encourage you to attend the PA meetings which are held throughout the school year. Our meeting discussions include updates to upcoming PA fundraiser activities and events, and the PA budget. In addition, there will also be informative discussions which will address various topics relevant to our school and our children.

Through our efforts, activities and events we hope to form a stronger parent body, enduring friendships and further cultivate an inclusive school community in which everyone feels a part.

If you would like more information about the Parents Association, have comments or suggestions, please contact me or any other SMSPA executive board members. We look forward to seeing you and to a fun-filled, exciting year for St. Michaels and the Parents Association.

-With warmest regards, Rachel McCall (PA President 2010)

2007-2008 Welcome Letter PDF Print E-mail

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our 2007-2008 school year at St. Michael's Country Day! We are excited to welcome back continuing families as well as new ones joining the St. Michael's family. Also, we are fortunate to have the following parents serving a second term on the PA Executive Board: Elaine Lindh (President) Debbie Crocker (Vice President), Janet Marrinan (Secretary), Andy Kagan (Treasurer), and Johna Toppa (Lunch Coordinator).

The PA Board has been working on the year's events and hopes that you will not only volunteer your time, but enjoy the events as well. Our first event of the year is Fall Frenzy, which takes place on Saturday, September 15th. A good way of keeping up on what is going on at school is to attend the monthly PA meetings. These meetings are held on Wednesdays at 8:15 AM in the lunchroom on the following dates: September 19th, November 7th, February 6th, and May 7th. Please come to the meetings to hear our plans, make suggestions, and discuss school issues.

In addition to our regularly scheduled events, the PA Executive Board is always looking for new ideas. Feel free to share your thoughts by sending an email to Elaine Lindh ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Our programs and events are dependent upon the creativity, participation, and willingness of all our parents. We need your help to continue the programs and events that are traditions at St. Michael's. We are all part of the St. Michael's family and we look forward to working hard and creating a special year for our children.

We hope you had a fun and relaxing summer and welcome back!

- The Executive Board of the St.Michael's Parents Association
