What we teach
The Lower School curriculum fosters creativity and cooperation, and provides numerous opportunities for learning through direct experiences. Each student will develop into a resourceful, respectful, and responsible learner, who is encouraged to draw connections between the numerous subjects that they learn.
This is accomplished through a thematic, inter-disciplinary approach to all subject areas. For example, students in the third grade use the theme of Australia to provide a meaningful context that connects all other aspects of the curriculum. During this unit, their Math classes address the metric system, while Social Studies teaches the Outback, and Art includes the creation of a piece based on Aboriginal Art.
