Join the PA
You need not wait for an invitation to join the St. Michael's Parent's Association. If your child is enrolled at St.Michael's, then you are a member. As with any independent school, St.Michael's relies on this army of unsung heroes who perform countless tasks, large and small, for the benefit of the students and their teachers. Money raised by the PA throughout the year goes directly toward classroom supplies, programs, assemblies and field trips, computer and theatre equipment, art materials, and pays to bring visitors into the classroom.

Members of the St. Michael's Parents Association are the school's primary cheerleaders and fundraisers, and the parents are encouraged but certainly not required to participate.
Recognizing the spirit of the PA and its role in the school community is perhaps the most important requirement; the truly connected parent becomes a volunteer and an advocate for the school.
How to get involved
Parent volunteers are always needed and always welcome. PA representatives are available at the beginning of the year to introduce the PA and to encourage parents to help at a list of school and family happenings--from the Fall Frenzy in September and the father-daughter Halloween dance in October to the skating party and raffle in March and St. Michael's Day in early June. The school lunches are also served, every day, by a much-appreciated army of parent volunteers.
Each class assumes the responsibility for a school event--providing refreshments and decorations for Grandparents Day; decorating the school for the holidays; organizing the St. Michael's Day cookout, or arranging for refreshments for graduation events. The class parent is responsible for organizing volunteers, scheduling and running meetings, and overseeing the event.
Every minute of volunteered time is considered a gift to the school. We are aware of the fact that we are a school community of busy parents and that all of our families lead active extracurricular lives. It is the philosophy of the PA that even the parent who makes two telephone calls from home looking for a raffle donation or sends brownies in for a bake sale ranks as a full-fledged volunteer. Anyone who wants to help automatically becomes part of the team.
At the end of the year the PA hosts a reception to recognize everyone who has given of time and talent during the year.
